Oracle Academy holds Java Programming Competition in PH

OAPJC
Is there an interactive application or a game buzzing in your mind that you want to develop but somehow not motivated enough to get it started? Here’s a big push – recognition, rewards and respect!

Since Oracle Corporation becomes the steward of Java, this is the first time that the company, thru its education initiative Oracle Academy, holds a national competition in the Philippines, and the first in Southeast Asia, too.
Dubbed as Oracle Academy Philippines Java Programming Competition, the contest provides a venue where you get a competitive boost of creative experience in showcasing your skills in Java.

The competition also gives you an arena of exploring the limits of your imagination to pursue innovation. Moreover, it is good exposure to the competitive nature of the real world while applying the hours and hours of training, coaching, coding and programming that you have already done as a hobby or in school.

If you are enrolled in a degree or diploma program at an accredited, non-profit college, university, or vocational institution in the Philippines and have reached the age of majority (18 years or above), competing here is one experience that can add flavor to your resume and not to mention worth mentioning in your job interview.
Another good thing too, there are no fees required to join.  For those who have already started their summer activities, registration and entry submission can be done done virtually anywhere through this link: https://academy.oracle.com/competition.

There will be three winners and each member of the winning teams will receive:
  • 1st place: Laptop $1,450 USD approximate retail value
  • 2nd place: Laptop $1,150 USD approximate retail value
  • 3rd place: Laptop $950 USD approximate retail value
Participants have until April 26th, 12 noon, to register online at https://academy.oracle.com/competition and may use the available resources there to get started.

Announcement of winners is on June 4, 2013.

Adventure for the young techs out there.

When the heat is almost overbearing, take it head on!

Summer is right about the corner and it's a quick turn just around the block. Can't be missed. The heat is overwhelming! At this time, students are surely conjuring a beach with the finest and whitest sands under the bluest skies while taking a short break from their end of term school chores.

But for those who want to punctuate the school year with another exclamatory splurge, joining a competition may not be the next best choice but it is the next better one.

Take for example Oracle Academy Philippines Java Programming Competition.

If I were in school and an IT student, I probably would have been thinking of an application or maybe have started to create one but do not have the right push to complete it. Or I may be a programming whiz kid who can whisk the right codes without breaking any sweat despite the summer heat, then I definitely would take on the challenge and join. Maybe even ask two of my best buddies for us to form a team. Winning means getting a laptop and an Oracle certification exam voucher each. Not bad at all.

For those interested, Oracle Academy Philippines Java Competition is the registration link. The contest is open to all Filipino IT students currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program at an accredited, non-profit college, university, or vocational institution in the Philippines. Some dates to remember are:

March 4 (12 noon): Registration opens
April 12 (12 noon): Submission deadline
May 21: Announcement of winners

Join now! There's nothing like taking the heat head on. Who knows, when you come back from your summer vacation, you have a brand new laptop to use for the next school year?
